Shorncliffe HouseClaimDetails
AboutDuring the late Victorian and Edwardian era Edward VII would regularly visit Folkestone to dine and entertain at The Grand Hotel on the Leas. It was in the conservatory of The Grand, nicknamed the Monkey Room that the concept of a palm court orchestra originated. The town became the place to be seen, any many large and imposing buildings were constructed. Shorncliffe House was one of these buildings, and is situated on Shorncliffe Road, not far from the town centre and Folkestone East railway station. The marriage room is of elegant proportions, made light and airy by an attractive bay window to the front. The room provides an atmosphere of relaxed formality for couples and their guests. The room has seating for twenty-nine and can comfortably accommodate a further 11 standing guests. There is a smaller marriage room with limited availability for small wedding parties of up to eight guests |
